Fast Death: Fish Can’t Resist This Jig.

The Ogre Middleweight Division was built to blur the line between speed jig and slow pitch precision. Available in 80g, 200g, and 300g, it’s the go-to choice when you need to reach the mid-column or bottom fast—and stay there long enough to get slammed.

This jig’s not for decoration. It’s for bluefin, yellowtail, rockfish, grouper, and anything else that hits like a truck but eats like a surgeon.

The original Ogre was born offshore after too many trips with sluggish lures that never reached the strike zone. We needed something faster—but still deadly on the fall. The result? A center-balanced, knife-style jig with just enough kick to trigger reaction strikes from fish that ignore plastics, irons, and bait.

Why Choose the Ogre Middleweight

  • Swift & Deadly
With its fast descent and long swimming action, the Ogre hits the bottom like a blade—but swims like injured prey. Perfect for when fish are holding deep or mid-column in lakes, bays, or nearshore drop-offs.
  • Built to Entice the Picky Ones
Whether it’s bluefin on a slow day, yellowtail dodging the bait balls, or rockfish sulking on structure—the Ogre’s fluttering fall and unpredictable roll turn passive fish into aggressive hitters.
  • Made for the Fight
Through-wire construction. Battle-tested colors. Proven in American waters. We made this jig because we couldn’t find anything like it—and now it’s turning skunks into slams across the country.

Specs:

  • Weights: 80g, 200g, 300g

  • Design:
  • Knife-style profile with asymmetric sides
  • Center-weighted for precision control on descent and retrieve

  • Action:
  • Long swimming horizontal swim on the pitch triggers reaction strikes
  • Quick descent gets to strike zone faster than bait or other artificials
Kicks side to side on retrieve to mimic injured baitfish

  • Build:
  • Through-wire construction from nose to tail
  • Hand-tied Saltwater-grade BKK hooks + UV tassels (80g only)
  • Bare jigs at 200g & 300g for custom rigging

  • Mid-depth to deep zones (kelp beds, drop-offs, wrecks, reefs)
  • Inshore to offshore predators
  • Bluefin, yellowtail, rockfish, grouper, ling cod, and more
  • The Macke-roni looks just like a mackeral bait fish, and comes in 80g (with BKK hooks), 200g, and 300g (no hooks on the larger sizes.)

  • The Squishy is pink and black with GLOW in the dark dots, resembling a squid. The fish can't resist it. Comes in 200g and 300g without hooks.

  • The Regal Mint is gold on one side and mint on the other, elevating the fisherman's favorite color with a little San Diego dazzle. Comes in 200g and 300g without hooks.

  • The Rainbow Roll has rainbow foil and glow stripes on one side and rainbow foil on the other. On the fall it will flip between the two sides, creating exciting contrast to entice the fish.  *GLOWS IN THE DARK  **ONLY COMES IN 80g (with BKK hooks), 400g, 500g, and 600g (see Heavyweight Division.)

❌Live bait has to be kept alive the whole trip out, and you’re at the mercy of how lively it is once you rig it up.

✅Our jigs have reliable, life-like action on the pitch, the fall, and the retrieve, whether vertical fishing or casting. The versatility of each jig means you have more tools in one punch for enticing bites from even finicky fish.

❌Live bait must be purchased or caught over and over, every. single. trip. out.

✅We use high-quality foil, UV paint and glow that might chip from fish teeth in a fight but won’t rust or fade, and saltwater-grade BKK hooks tied in-house and tailored to each jig, ensuring more hook ups. A sturdy through-wire from nose to tail means our jigs withstand whatever a fish can throw at them - over and over and over.

❌Plastics and generic metal baits degrade, tear, and often can’t reach deeper water columns effectively, especially in pressured or heavy current situations. They offer crappy to meh performance, wasting your time and losing you fish.

✅We provide better-than-live-bait fishing with a huge selection of battle-tested, high-quality gear for whatever fish you’re after, giving you the fist-pump of victory drop after drop.

❌Other jigs are typically mass-produced out of inferior material, prioritizing cost efficiency instead of state-of-the-art functionality.

✅For us it’s all about catching fish: more hook-ups, fewer snags, fewer lost fish, more bragging rights. We work closely with our international partners to ensure the highest-quality materials, construction, and functionality for each jig.

❌Many jigs are designed for one specific type of fishing by people in a suit (usually in another country) who don’t actually fish, not designed by real fishermen for real fishermen. They are out of touch with the reality of the water.

✅Our commitment to selling only jigs that actually catch fish means that we only sell what we have fished ourselves EXTENSIVELY first in American waters, resulting in a huge variety of jigs that catch fish in any water conditions.

❌Other brands may leave you frustrated due to lack of personal attention and sluggish support.

✅We ensure you feel like part of our team with our speedy responses from real people (us!)

Get your black belt in fishing

During the 2020 lockdowns, Mike Muto, a lifelong angler and black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, found himself perfecting his slow pitch jigging in San Diego’s bays, only to be frustrated by subpar jigs. Determined to find a solution, he launched Submission Fishing Co., crafting jigs that could handle everything from bass to bluefin. Drawing inspiration from martial arts, where practice and precision lead to victory, Submission Fishing’s jigs are designed to help you master the waters and secure that big catch, no matter the conditions.

FAQs

- Usually, tie the line on the eye side of the jig. We recommend if you’re going to tie directly to the jig, tie onto the split ring. If you’re going to use a clip or snap, tie onto the clip and attach it directly to the eyelet.

- A good rule of thumb is 1 gram per 1 foot of water. This is just a base line, and there are many other variables to consider, but this will get you started.

- Any predatory fish, freshwater or saltwater. Inshore/bay/surf/freshwater examples are: sandbass, pompano, perch, redfish, largemouth bass, speckled trout. Nearshore/ offshore/ kelp beds: calico bass, amberjack, yellowtail, dorado. Offshore: rockfish, tuna, grouper.

- Slow pitch jigging is designed to maximize the action of the jigs: the flutter down mimicks the actions of injured prey and attracts more bites from a greater variety of fish than other more passive styles of fishing.

- It is also known for being effective in deeper or tougher conditions, and allows fishermen to experience the joy of the technique, making it a popular choice for those who appreciate the art and skill of fishing.

- Yes! Cast the jig and let it flutter down for a while before retrieving. Slowly pop it and bounce it through the water column as you reel towards you. Wind up and repeat.

- Our jigs are very durable and won’t rust or fall apart after one use. They are lead material with a through wire from nose to tail which keeps them from breaking in a fight. The hooks are heavy-duty BKK hooks that won’t rust with normal use (though we recommend a good rinsing after a hard day at sea.)

- This is the whole secret of fishing. Each angler has his or her favorite way to get ready for a day on the water. We have many videos discussing our favorites and the various ways to set up for various kinds of fishing on our YouTube Channel: @submissionfishing co.

- No matter which jig weight class you’re fishing, a slower, more parabolic rod is key to maximizing your efforts and the jig’s unique qualities.
