FAQs

Great question — and don’t worry, you don’t need to be a fisherman yourself to choose the right gift.

In general, the size of the jig determines where it’s best used:

🎣 Micro & Lightweight Jigs (10g–40g): Perfect for docks, bays, lakes, rivers, surf, or kayak fishing. These are the most beginner-friendly and versatile — they work in both freshwater and saltwater and are great for bass, trout, redfish, and halibut.

🎣 Lightweight & Middleweight Jigs (40g–100g+): Best for deeper water, heavier currents, rivers, or nearshore ocean fishing. Great for species like striper, grouper, yellowtail, or salmon.

🎣 Middleweight & Heavyweight Jigs (200g–600g): Built for big saltwater fish in deep water — tuna, grouper, and other powerful predators. These are the heavy-duty tools for serious offshore fishing.

👉 If you’re not sure what kind of fishing your loved one does most, our bundles make gifting easy. They’re curated by fishing style (freshwater, inshore, offshore, etc.) and come with everything they need to tie on and start fishing — no guesswork, no wrong choice.

Slow pitch jigging is a precision style of fishing where the lure (the jig) flutters and kicks like a wounded baitfish. It triggers instinct strikes from fish that won’t touch live bait or plastics. Our jigs are engineered to move this way — center-weighted, asymmetrical, and paired with premium assist hooks — which is why they get bit when other lures fail. (Want the full breakdown? Check out our Guide to Slow Pitch Jigging .)

Most store-bought lures are designed to look good in packaging, not perform under pressure. They chip, bend, and quit in cold water. Submission Jigs are through-wire tough, built for battle, and tested in real American waters. Every jig is garage-packed by us, not churned out by a faceless factory. We're here to help, just a call or email away.

Live bait can work great — when it’s lively. But it slows down fast, needs constant changing, and once it dies, it stops doing the one thing that matters: looking alive. Submission slow pitch jigs, on the other hand, are built to stay “alive” forever.

Our jigs are center-weighted and asymmetrical, which means they flutter, dart, and fall like a dying baitfish — the ultimate trigger for a predator’s instinct to strike. Even when fish are full or sluggish, they can’t ignore that helpless, wounded motion. It’s not about hunger — it’s about reaction. The jig taps into their natural drive to attack weak prey, forcing a bite when real bait gets ignored.

So instead of constantly swapping slimy, short-lived bait, you drop a Submission Jig and let physics, precision design, and pure instinct do the work — from freshwater bass to offshore tuna.

Absolutely. Whether it’s their first cast or their thousandth, Submission Jigs take the guesswork out of fishing. Beginners love them because they just work. Pros love them because they can rely on them for serious fish. (Check out our Ultimate Beginner's Guide to see exactly how to get started.)

We're always here to help with fishing tips, but you're also covered by our 30-Day Skunk-Proof Guarantee. If the angler you gift doesn’t land fish, you get your money back. Just send us an email and we'll get you a return label. Easy peasy.

Built by Fishermen for fishermen who make their own bite

During the 2020 lockdowns, I was grinding the bays of San Diego with a rod in one hand and way too much frustration in the other. I kept tying on slow pitch jigs that looked the part but couldn’t deliver — paint flaked, hooks bent, fish didn’t care. As a lifelong angler and a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, I know success doesn’t come from luck. It comes from reps, precision, and gear you can trust.

So I decided to build my own. That’s how Submission Fishing Co. was born — in a garage, not a boardroom. Every jig we make is tested by me and our crew, built to handle everything from spotted bay bass to offshore bluefin. Just like on the mats, fishing is about putting in the work and seizing the moment.

We didn’t start in a boardroom. We started in our garage—frustrated by flimsy lures, raising a toddler, running a family business, and chasing our black belt in fishing. We built Submission Jigs because we were tired of “good enough.”
