What is slow pitch jigging?

Slow pitch jigging is a vertical fishing technique that uses fluttering metal jigs to mimic dying baitfish. It's effective in both saltwater and freshwater and works especially well when fish are not chasing fast-moving lures.

What size jig should I use?

Choose jig weight based on depth and current. Use 10–20g for docks and shallow water, 40–100g for nearshore, and 300g+ for offshore or deep water. Match the weight to how quickly you want to reach the strike zone.

Can slow pitch jigs be used in freshwater?

Yes! Submission Jigs are used successfully in lakes and rivers for bass, walleye, trout, and more. Their lifelike flutter action triggers bites when other lures fail, especially in cold or pressured conditions.

Do I need special gear for slow pitch jigging?

While you can start with standard rods and reels, a true slow pitch setup includes a soft-tip rod, high-speed conventional reel, braided line, and fluorocarbon leader. Lighter gear helps you feel the jig’s action and detect subtle strikes.

What types of fish can I catch with Submission Jigs?

How do I rig and use your assist hooks?

Attach the assist hook to the top eyelet of the jig, we like two on the eye side for the 10g and 15g jigs, and one on each end for 10g through 80g. For best results, use one or two assist hooks depending on the jig size. All Submission Hooks are saltwater-rated and matched to each jig size.

1. Sponsor

This Sweepstakes is sponsored by Submission Fishing Co., Jacksonville, FL ("Sponsor").

2. Eligibility

Open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia who are eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees of Sponsor, Dragonfly Rods / Landicho Custom Rods LLC, their affiliates, and immediate family members of each are not eligible. Void where prohibited.

3. Sweepstakes Period

The Sweepstakes begins August 1, 2026 at 12:00:00 AM Pacific Time and ends August 31, 2026 at 11:59:59 PM Pacific Time (the "Sweepstakes Period"). Entries received outside the Sweepstakes Period will be disqualified.

4. How to Enter

No purchase is necessary to enter or win, and a purchase is never a condition of entering this Sweepstakes. There is one free entry method and two bonus entry methods. Every entry — however it was earned — is placed into the same pool and has an equal chance of being selected.

Bonus Entry — Purchase: Each qualifying order over $50 placed at submissionfishing.com during the Sweepstakes Period earns one (1) additional bonus entry, on top of any free entries earned under Method 1 above. Purchasing is entirely optional and is offered only as an extra way to earn entries — it is not required to enter or to win. No maximum on the number of bonus entries earned through purchases.
Bonus Entry — Social: Follow @submissionfishingco on Instagram and publish a public post or Story tagging @submissionfishingco and including the hashtag #submit250 during the Sweepstakes Period to earn one (1) additional bonus entry. Limit one (1) bonus social entry per person, regardless of number of posts.

Every entry received, regardless of the method used to earn it, has an equal chance of being selected as the winner.

5. Prize

One (1) winner will receive: one (1) custom slow pitch jigging rod built by Dragonfly Rods / Landicho Custom Rods LLC (approximate retail value $300–$400, exact specifications to be finalized with winner) and one (1) $100 Submission Fishing Co. gift certificate. Total approximate retail value (ARV): $400–$500.

Prize is non-transferable. No cash equivalent or substitution, except Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the stated prize becomes unavailable. Winner is responsible for any applicable taxes.

6. Winner Selection & Notification

One (1) winner will be selected in a random drawing from all eligible entries on or about September 3, 2026. Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received. Winner will be notified by email and/or Instagram direct message within five (5) business days of the drawing. Winner must respond within seven (7) days of notification or an alternate winner may be selected. Winner may be required to complete an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release (where legal) to claim the prize.

7. General Conditions

By entering, participants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor, which are final in all matters relating to the Sweepstakes. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, modify, or suspend the Sweepstakes if fraud, technical failure, or any factor beyond Sponsor's control impairs its integrity. Sponsor will not arbitrarily remove, disqualify, disallow, or reject any entry.

8. Publicity Release

Except where prohibited, participation constitutes winner's consent to Sponsor's use of winner's name, city/state, and likeness for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation.

9. Privacy

Information collected from entrants is subject to Sponsor's Privacy Policy, available at submissionfishing.com, and will be used only to administer this Sweepstakes and for future marketing communications where consented to.

10. Limitation of Liability

Sponsor and Landicho Rod Builder LLC d/b/a Dragonfly Tackle Co. are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, misdirected, or illegible entries; technical failures of any kind; or any injury or damage related to participation in this Sweepstakes or acceptance/use of the prize.

11. Governing Law

This Sweepstakes is governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict of law principles.
